Reaching The World With Your Website

Having a website that represents your business is a great tool, but one thing is for certain, people will not come clicking unless you get the word out about your wonderful site. With millions of websites in the net, what can you do to improve your chances of getting those precious customers coming non stop?

Here are some of the basic steps you should take in order to increase the traffic without spending a dime:

• Register your website with the search engines. A lot has been said about registering your URL with the search engines, and in some cases the advice is for you not to waste the time doing so. The reason for this is that assuming you had taken the time to improve your website with search engine optimization techniques, the search engines will eventually find your site without you having to let them know. Now, it can be months before they find your site, and more so if you have not yet done any improvements in the optimization area.
Most search engines have a system in place where you can easily register your site in few seconds. Usually the process requires that you enter the URL for the site’s index page, provide your email address, and then click enter. Sometimes inclusion in their database could take weeks, but with a little luck you could find your site listed in a matter of days. So, if you have the time to register your site manually with as many search engines as you can, then do it.

• Use an automatic submission site. Some Web services allow you to submit your site to several search engines at once. In some cases the submission process has limitations as the number of search engines to which they’ll submit. Using one of those services could save you a lot of work; however to take advantage of this service is in most cases not free.

• E-mail. Having your own e-mail list that you can contact anytime you want is the most powerful tool you could have for your online business.
To take full advantage of your e-mail list you must: have your own list of people you know or people who had given you permission to contact them. Once you have the necessary information about your site, try to establish trust with those recipients by not just telling them about your site but by periodically sending irresistible sales offers. Keeping a good record of the e-mail list is crucial for the success of any online business. Become familiar with using this tool and it will guarantee a more profitable enterprise.

• Links. This is one of my favorite ways of promoting my site in the World Wide Web. By keeping a record of all the websites you visit when gathering information about your business, you can easily go back to those same websites and send them requests so they can put their links in your site, in return for the favor, you can request to place a link for your site on theirs. It is a good idea to try to place your links in sites with similar interest to yours, therefore increasing the chances of getting clicks. If for example you have an affiliate marketing business and you interchange links with a company that builds furniture, the probabilities of getting a lot of traffic from that link will be less than if you interchange links with a company that helps people find ideas and opportunities for their home base online business.

• Offline publicity. Just because you have an online business doesn’t mean that you should only concentrate on marketing it online. Offline marketing is as effective as online. If you use the right marketing techniques you can build a substantial client list by advertising offline. Flyers, classified newspaper ads, and word of mouth are some of the most common ways to advertise. Use them consistently and they will pay off.

Whatever you do to promote your online business, do it, but don’t just sit around doing nothing and expect you website to be crowded with visitors. It doesn’t matter how beautiful and well designed your site is, if you don’t market it right, it won’t succeed.
